    2025-09-11

On September 9, 2025, the China-U.S. Provincial and State Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Event was held in Xiamen during the 25th China International Investment and Trade Fair. The theme of this event is “Strengthening China-U.S. Provincial and State Economic and Trade Cooperation to Promote High-Quality Development for Mutual Benefit and Win-Win Outcomes”. Liu Jiang, Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of our association, was invited to attend. The event was jointly organized by the Xiamen Municipal People's Government, the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME). Approximately 200 representatives from local governments, chambers of commerce, associations, and enterprises in both China and the United States attended the event.

Liu Chun, Vice Chairman of CCCME, presided over the opening ceremony. Keynote speeches and addresses were delivered by Ling Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations; Wang Jinfu, Vice Governor of Fujian Provincial People's Government; Michael Hart, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China); Noah Fraser, Senior Vice President of the US-China Business Council (USCBC); and Harley Seyedin, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China (AmCham South China). Maryland Secretary of State Fengqian Li and Chicago Deputy Mayor Merritt delivered video addresses. Participants engaged in discussions on topics including green transformation, healthcare, and consumption upgrades, sharing case studies and analyzing cooperation opportunities. On-site business matchmaking facilitated concrete project collaborations.

In his keynote address, Ling Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, stated that most U.S. companies in China have maintained a long-term commitment to deepening their presence in the country, achieving rapid growth over the years. Today, China offers foreign enterprises not only “shallow dividends” in terms of cost and market access, but also “deep dividends” derived from diversified consumer demand, a complete industrial and supply chain, an advanced innovation ecosystem, abundant application scenarios, and continuously expanding institutional openness. Amid uncertainties brought by trade protectionism, China's high-quality development and innovation momentum remain certain, making investment in China a reliable hedge against uncertainty. China's Ministry of Commerce stands ready to make greater efforts to facilitate the further development of U.S. enterprises in China.

Wang Jinfu, Vice Governor of Fujian Provincial People's Government, stated that exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and U.S. localities have deepened and solidified across various fields, with economic and trade collaboration growing increasingly close. He expressed hope that this event would serve as a bridge to unwaveringly expand high-level opening-up, continuously strengthen economic and trade exchanges with U.S. localities, and contribute to the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Wang Jinfu, Vice Governor of Fujian Provincial People's Government

Representatives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce stated that American businesses have a long history of cooperation with China. U.S. companies maintain confidence in the Chinese market and their Chinese partners, believing that the potential for collaboration remains substantial. They recognize that maintaining competitiveness in the Chinese market is crucial to sustaining their global competitiveness. They will continue to play an active role, contributing to the development of U.S.-China economic and trade relations based on trust, innovation, and shared prosperity.

In the future, our association and relevant member units will consistently uphold the principles of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation. We will join hands with domestic and international partners to continuously cultivate the fertile ground of local economic and trade cooperation between China and the United States. We will strive to build more efficient and pragmatic international economic exchange platforms and cooperation mechanisms, exploring new pathways for mutual benefit and shared success.
