2025 Training Course on Standardized Management of Academic Associations of the

The 2025 Training Course on Standardized Management of Academic Associations of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) was held in Beijing on December 24. Zhao Rui, Vice President and Member of the Party Leadership Group of CASS, attended and addressed the event.

Zhao Rui pointed out that academic associations of social sciences serve as a bridge and bond for the Party and the government to unite intellectuals in the social sciences community, an important support for serving scientific decision-making and national governance, a vital force for developing philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics, and a key front for safeguarding national ideological security, thus shouldering important responsibilities in serving the overall work of the Party and the country. The academic associations of our academy are valuable academic resources formed through historical accumulation, and important platforms for fulfilling the "Three Orientations" functions, practicing the "Three Consensuses" and "Three Commitments", and standing firm in the first line of ensuring the "Two Maintenances".

At present, the development of academic associations is in a critical period of transformation and upgrading. We must focus on the new requirements of the new era to foster a new pattern for the development of the academy’s academic associations, with key efforts on the following aspects: first, raising political standing and comprehensively strengthening Party leadership; second, returning to the academic essence to advance the development of an independent knowledge system of Chinese philosophy and social sciences; third, enhancing support and guarantees to build platforms serving scientific research and innovation.

Over 200 participants attended the training course, including Party committee secretaries and responsible leaders of relevant affiliated units of the academy, as well as heads and staff members of academic associations. Relevant officials from the National Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences Work, the Fourth Bureau of the Central Social Work Department, the Department of Social Organization Administration of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, together with the Department of Scientific Research and the Department of Finance, Infrastructure and Administration of our academy, delivered thematic reports. Responsible officials from the Department of Scientific Research briefed participants on the special rectification work concerning academic associations and non-entity research centers.
